OMAMORIThe Charms

The Charms operate at the threshold between object and intention. Neither fully symbolic nor entirely functional, they are imbued with meaning through belief, ritual, or attachment. As anomalies, they resist stable categorization: are they protective, decorative, or psychological anchors? Their power lies precisely in this ambiguity. From a Jungian perspective, charms act as condensed symbols, small vessels carrying disproportionate psychic weight. They may represent protection, luck, memory, or control over uncertainty. Unlike formal archetypes, they do not demand universal recognition; instead, they are deeply personal, often idiosyncratic. As anomalies, charms reveal how meaning can crystallize in minor forms. They suggest that the psyche does not only speak through grand narratives, but also through intimate objects charged with emotional residue. Their significance lies in their portability and secrecy, small tokens that hold unseen forces, reminding us that even the most modest forms can carry profound symbolic gravity. They imbue the wearer with advantage with feelings of being anointed and chosen.
