MONThe Portal
The Portal is the anomaly of passage, the point at which one state of being gives way to another. It is not a place, but an opening, a threshold that cannot be crossed without change. In art, the portal appears when an image draws the viewer beyond surface into deeper perception, where meaning is not simply seen but experienced. A work becomes a portal when it alters consciousness, even subtly, shifting how reality is understood. In the same way, spiritual teachers function as living portals, not as destinations but as conduits through which insight can pass. They do not provide answers, but open the space in which transformation becomes possible. The portal demands participation; it cannot be observed from a distance. To step through is to relinquish certainty and enter the unknown. In this sense, all true encounters with art or wisdom are acts of crossing — moments where perception itself is irrevocably changed.
