HENRYThe Helmet

The Helmet, imposing and impenetrable, symbolises the narcissist's ultimate armour − designed to protect but inevitably isolating. Beneath its metallic sheen lies a skull, the essence of mortality and humanity, suffocated by layers of defensive artifice. In the Tarot, The Tower looms as its counterpart, foretelling the collapse of false structures when ego crumbles under its own weight. Mythology recalls warriors, such as Achilles, whose helmets concealed vulnerabilities even as they estranged them from their mortal truths, and the lives of those around them. Philosophy sees the helmet as a paradox: it deflects harm but also inculcates introspection, eroding the wearer's deeper connection to the world. In Buddhism, attachment to such external armour is a delusion, obstructing the path to self-realisation. The Helmet warns of a life lived behind walls, where the fear of being wounded becomes the tragedy of never being fully alive − an empty husk of protection at the expense of connection.
